Milwaukee CUF is thrilled to announce that Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano, apostolic nuncio to the United States from 2011 to 2016, has honored our Chapter by agreeing to accept the 31st annual “Msgr. Alphonse S. Popek Award.” Since August 25, 2018, when Archbishop Vigano published his 11-page written testament exposing the cover-up of clerical abuse in the highest echelons of the Church, he has been in hiding, where he fears his life is in danger. For that reason, John-Henry Westen, co-founder and editor of LifeSiteNews, has graciously agreed to accept the award on behalf of the Archbishop.
There is no doubt that Archbishop Vigano more than meets the Popek award criteria, which are: “the leadership of the laity, zeal for the priesthood, and fidelity to the Magisterium” as exemplified by Msgr. Popek. May God bless Archbishop Vigano for having the courage to suffer the consequences that have come with his resolve to do the right thing for Christ’s Church. Tickets are required, so if you are interested, please contact St. Gregory VII Chapter.
